Annual Awards
Nomination for all Swimmer Awards is no longer required. All Awards will be determined using the Award Criteria and Swimmer Results from the Swimming Australia Results database. Clubs should still submit nominations for the Ballarat Masters Administration Award.
Principal Awards
J.W.CLEGG SHIELD
Awarded to the most outstanding 12 yrs and Over swimmer in the District. The JW Clegg Memorial Trophy shall be awarded to the swimmer in the Midlands District that meets the criteria that is set out by the Clegg Committee. It is worked out on a count of medals – Gold, Silver and Bronze – starting with Nationals Open/Age, Victorian States Open/Age and other SV events including Country Championships, Victorian Qualifying and Distance meet. Records are also considered. This Trophy will not be awarded if the Clegg Committee is not satisfied that a swimmer has met this criteria (Robin Alexander, Chairman of the JW Clegg Memorial Trophy).
L.L. DIXON AWARD – 11 years and under
Awarded to the most outstanding Junior Swimmer in the District. Determined using performance in Finals at the following SV competitions: Country All Juniors, Victorian Country Championships, 8-12 Optus Junior Dolphins Encouragement Meet, Victorian Qualifying and Distance meet, along with performance at MDASA Championships. Points only accumulate during the relevant season whilst the swimmer is 11 yrs & under. Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee.
WENDY ALEXANDER MEMORIAL AWARD
Encouragement award. Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee.
MDASA Awards
BILL McKENZIE MEMORIAL TROPHY
Awarded to an 18/O swimmer at Midlands Championship Meet based on the best 3 times over different events. (Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times, percentaged then averaged). Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee.
12/13 Years FIONA FRASER TROPHY
For best performance by a 12/13 year old. Determined using performance in Finals at Nationals Open/Age and at the following SV competitions: Victorian States Open/Age, Country All Juniors, Victorian Country Championships, Victorian Qualifying and Distance meet, along with performance at MDASA Championships. Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee.
MDASA CHAMPIONSHIPS AGE GROUP TROPHIES
Awarded to the overall Age Group Male & Female Champions at the Midlands District Championship Meet in the following age groups: 9yrs & Under, 10/11yrs, 12/13yrs, 14/15yrs, 16/17yrs, and 18yrs & Over. Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee.
BALLARAT MASTERS ADMINISTRATION AWARD (nominations from each club required)
Each club and MDASA can nominate two people who they think fits this award. Ballarat Masters Swimming Club will oversee this trophy.
DISTANCE AWARDS
BRETT O’NEILL – 1500m Freestyle
HELEN EDGECOMBE – 800m Freestyle
Times for the 1500m and 800m trophies ONLY can be taken from any MDASA Distance Meet or from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times.
CRAIG MILLGATE – 400m Freestyle
RANDALL FORSYTH – 200m Freestyle
KARLA ALEXANDER – 200m Individual Medley
Times for the 400m, 200m Freestyle and 200m I.M trophies can be taken from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times.
INDIVIDUAL STROKE AWARDS
ISOBEL GLOVER FREESTYLE SPRINT TROPHY
50m & 100m times for this trophy can be taken from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times, percentaged then averaged.
GRAEME FRASER BUTTERFLY TROPHY
Based on 50, 100, 200 metre swims, times for these trophies can be taken from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times, percentaged and then the best 2 times are averaged.
MICK O’NEILL MEMORIAL BACKSTROKE TROPHY
Based on 50, 100, 200 metre swims, times for these trophies can be taken from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times, percentaged and then the best 2 times are averaged.
BETTY FRASER MEMORIAL BREASTSTROKE TROPHY
Based on 50, 100, 200 metre swims, times for these trophies can be taken from any official SV approved meet, SAL meet or equivalent International Body conducted as a long course meet. Times are compared with the MDASA standard age group times, percentaged and then the best 2 times are averaged.
COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS
Awarded by the MDASA Trophy Selection Sub-committee based on performance in Finals. Points for open age events will be the same as individual age event points. Each record from this meet will be awarded 2 bonus points. If point totals are equal, a countback system will be used. The number of gold medals will be considered first, followed by the number of silver and bronze.
LONG COURSE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
A Perpetual Trophy and Individual Trophy to be presented for best overall Male & Female to be selected from performances at SV Country Long Course Championships.
SHORT COURSE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
A Perpetual Trophy and Individual Trophy to be presented for best Male & Female in 11/U, 12-15yrs and 16/O age groups to be selected from SV Country Short Course Championships. Ballarat Swimming Club, Ballarat GCO & Ballarat Gold have donated these trophies.
